Current Status and Updates

Idaho Medicaid submitted its State Medicaid HIT Plan to CMS for approval on November 23, 2011. We were notified on January 10th, 2012 that we had received approval for the plan and for our budget. The new budget will go into effect on March 1, 2012. This is great news for Idaho. Medicaid will initiate building an information management system to support the program in the next few weeks. It is expected that this will take up to six months to complete. Once completion is assured we will set a firm implementation date for the incentive program. You will be notified as soon as that date is confirmed.

In the interim Medicaid is planning an outreach effort for providers to begin this Spring. The goal of this effort is to provide you with the information you need to successfully apply to Idaho for a Medicaid incentive payment. More information will be forthcoming.

In the interim please feel free to visit Idaho's Medicaid Incentive Payment Program website at www.MedicaidEHR.dhw.idaho.gov. There is also an option there for submitting questions to the program staff directly. I also encourage you to visit the CMS website for the incentive program. They have wonderful tools to support you as well as great information on all aspects of both the Medicaid and Medicare incentive programs.
